There’s a very good reason why the Hyundai can be sold at such a cheap
price.
Nice Audi grille, Hyundai. One day you’ll build a car with personality…
Oh and Hyundai you need to remove that Aston Martin emblem off your car you
are so not worthy enough to wear a badge like that.
Reason why can’t American, Japanese and Korean cars stack up to German
luxury cars is diesel. Best selling (globally) cars in BMW, Mercedes and
Audi’s lineup are cars fitted with their 3.0 or 2.0 (2.1) liter diesel
engines. More cars they sell more money they have to develop their cars to
drive better. I know that Americans don’t like diesels, but face it most
BMW 5 series are 520d or 530/535d/xd cars, and most E classes are 320 CDI
and most S classes around the world are 320 CDI, 80% of Audis I see around
are diesel.
I would take even a Lexus GS over these wannabes. Yuck!
It’s not fair to lump an established premium brand like Cadillac (once the
world standard) in with hurry-come-up Hyundai
For the same money as the overpriced CTS V-Sport I can get a V8 BMW or a
loaded Audi S6 that will destroy everything and have tons more features, a
better backseat, massage seats, night vision etc. The Genesis is a great
value for the money.
same money I got BMW 535d x-drive top the line model, no thanks Cadi~~~
You know what grinds my gears? Germans automakers thinking they’re all
that, with overpricing their cars.
You can get the V sport with less features for 60k … The car comes in
lots of variants … But I have to say the Cadillac looks much much better
and that red interior with the suede inserts is gorgeous and from an
engineering stand point the cts is the winner … He even said it ..
“embarrasses the 5 series”
The Cadillac is a dedicated car for the segment it is in, but the Hyundai
is the wanna-be. Aston-Martin grille and emblem should be removed.
After 20 years of German cars I just bought a 2014 Cadillac ATS. I find
this car on par with Mercedes and in some respects better. While smaller
than the CTS I now realize Cadillac has come a long way!
Genesis = Comfort . Technology – Cadillac = Driving pleasure . Sporty
Hyundai is very nice, don’t get me wrong, but the Cadillac does everything
right. Including steering, something Hyundai cant do to save their lives.
Hyundai needs to keep that weight in check, 4000lb pounds is quite heavy
… and that’s even in the 6 cylinder. Hopefully the refresh in about 2 1/2
years, will try to target that problem or at least over a 3l turbo instead
of that 3.8l naturally aspirated motor.
Both these cars are still better than the GS.
wait till the genesis r-spec
what’s name the music at 0:37 ??
For that price I’d go for the las generation cts-v
I like the Cadillac, but that’s way too much money just for a 4 pot and the
twin turbo 6 is just stupidly high. Would rather the Genesis
Luke, I’m disappointed, you normally pick the right car. Neither are very
great, but when you start comparing that Caddy to BMW and Audi, shame on
you.
Umm there is no comparing the 2 pick the Cadillac worth the money.
100% agreed
Rediculous! Genesis is not a luxury car at all. It has the same badge as
Elantra and its interior is not even close. Caddy has a stylish, unique
style while Genesis is an up-scale Sonata.
i would get the genesis, it looks better, its bigger, its cheaper by $20,000
the Cadillac may be a little bit better for its speed and leather color or
good leather but it has a price of BMW 550i or Mercedes benz E550 and if
you a luxury car with good sound go with Jaguar XF Supercharged, the
exhaust kicks the CTS’s ass, so fuck CTS or any cadilac
The Koreans tunnel under and the Americans come head on. Oh wait, back to
cars.
Looks more than 17 thousand better to me…
Why are you comparing a premium brand (cadillac) with a non premium
one?!?!??!
If Cadillac hopes to lure German cars fans into buying the CTS, they ought
to address the pink elephant they are pretending is not in the room; resale
value.
72000 dollars for a caddy??????
I would buy merc or bmw for that money.
Or buy the Genesis and buy another car.
Why are you comparing a premium brand (cadillac) with a non premium
one?!?!??!
I feel like this is a bit bias to the Cadillac but anyway still a fair
comparison.
In a sense these cars do compete but definitely not directly….I love both
cars but I honestly think I would take the genesis….very hard to argue
with its price…Once the quality is proven and perception goes up with the
genesis, so will its price tag….get one while they are a steal!
I usually hate Hyundai but damn this Genesis is such a great looking car. I
even prefer it to the A6 or 5-Series.
Genesis it´s really a bargain. Great car.
Get the Genesis and you can still afford to go out to dinner in it lol
Fair assessment
Cadillac for sure
Dumb if you give it the win and the Cadillac embarrasses the BMW then the
Genesis takes a dump on BMW, Mercedes, and Audi. Which you will never say
on film you will find a reason to change your take. Also why choose the
V-Sport you could have easily went with the Turbo 4 and saved about 10K.
Cadillac trumps the Genesis but I will admit it is a great car.
Majority US public perception, excluding sport dominant and niche brands
(ie Koenigsegg, Ferrari, Mclaren, Aston Martin, Maserati, Land Rover, Jeep,
Ram, Mini, Fiat, etc.):
Opulence: Rolls Royce
Prestige: Bentley, Maybach
High Luxury: BMW/Merc, Audi
Luxury: Lexus, Jaguar, Cadillac, Infiniti
Premium: Buick/Volvo, Acura, Lincoln, Chrysler
Consumer: Toyota, Ford, Honda, Chevy, Nissan, Volkswagen, Hyundai, Dodge
Commodity: Mazda, Subaru, Kia, Mitsubishi, Pontiac, Saturn, Suzuki
By the end of the decade:
Opulence: Rolls Royce, Bentley
Prestige: BMW/Merc/Audi
High Luxury: Jaguar, Lexus, Cadillac
Luxury: Infiniti, Volvo/Buick
Premium: Acura, Lincoln, Alfa Romeo, Hyundai, Nissan
Consumer: Ford, Toyota, Chevy/Honda/Chrysler, Volkswagen, Mazda, Kia
Commodity: Dodge, Subaru, Mitsubishi
*grabs popcorn*
Whoever is reading this could kiss my ass.
Competition is good! Makes everyone step up their game! I’m glad there is
so many choices. The genesis is not my cup of tea but I give it all the
respect it deserves. Cadillac has also stepped up their presence. I’m
excited to see what the other makes have in the works
